Wes Bauer’s Chase the Cure campaign enjoys Roughriders welcome
Wes Bauer (son of Lyle Bauer, President & CEO, Winnipeg Blue Bombers) rolls into Regina’s Mosaic Stadium to be received for his cross-Canadian bike ride for cancer
REGINA, SK – June 10, 2009 – This afternoon, at 12:15 p.m. Wes Bauer’s Chase the Cure campaign, cruises into Regina’s Mosaic Stadium, where the Saskatchewan Roughriders have planned a meet and greet for him. The visit will allow the Roughriders to welcome Wes and Chase the Cure to Regina and express CFL support for his efforts to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
“The heart and courage that Wes is showing in this endeavour may only be equalled by his father Lyle who I have tremendous respect for,” says Riders President/CEO Jim Hopson. “The Bauer family is truly inspiring and we are honoured that we are able to be a very small part of this event.”
Wes will be received by Jim Hopson, and members of the Roughriders staff and cheer team. The Roughriders will make a formal presentation to Chase the Cure on behalf of the team. Fans are invited to attend and will have an opportunity to hear how Wes’ father’s fight with the disease inspired him to begin this journey and has brought him to where he is today.
“I feel privileged to be spearheading a campaign that truly allows people to make a difference for the many Canadians who are affected by cancer,” says Wes Bauer, Chase the Cure organizer. “We’ve received overwhelming support from the CFL so far, and efforts like the Roughriders’ welcome show us just how much the fight for a cure brings people from many different places, and teams, together.”
Chase the Cure is an initiative in support of the Never Alone Foundation. It is a cross-Canadian bike tour with Wes Bauer to raise funds and awareness to help end cancer. Donations raised throughout Canada by Chase the Cure will stay in the provinces they are raised, assisting various local cancer programs and provincial foundations.
